Facts

Therapeutic massages

There are three treatment forms of the "Therapeutic Massage" method:

The Classic Massage (Swedish Massage),

foot reflexology massage

and manual lymphatic drainage .

These forms of therapy are used according to need or desire and can be applied either individually or in combination to achieve the desired therapeutic goal and healing.

The pre- and postnatal massage

Is a classic massage adapted to the needs of the expectant mother after the first trimester of pregnancy: relieves muscle and joint pain, reduces swelling in the legs and is a great way to relax even during baby time and breastfeeding.

Health insurance recognition with reimbursement

The costs of therapeutic treatment can be reclaimed from your health insurance provider through your supplementary insurance for complementary medicine.* Please clarify in writing with your insurance provider in advance whether and to what extent the costs of treatment will be covered and how big your yearly budget is.

Process Facts

What can I expect from my first massage?

Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment.

First, you will be asked to fill out a health history form. It is important that you list all health concerns, medications, and allergies so that I can tailor the treatment to your specific needs. Afterwards, I will continue with the assessment. Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions.

During the massage, you will lie on a special heated massage table. I will use bolsters or cushions so that your knees and back are supported in a comfortable position. You will be covered with a sheet or blanket to keep you warm. During the session, most people simply close their eyes and fully relax – others prefer to chat. Please feel free to ask at any time if you would like more or less pressure, an extra blanket, if you feel too warm, or if you have a question about a particular technique.

After the massage, I will give you aftercare tips, and depending on your needs, we will create a treatment plan together.

How should I undress for a massage?

It is entirely up to you. You can choose to remove some or all of your clothing. During the massage, you will always be properly draped to ensure your privacy is fully respected, and I will only uncover the area of the body I am working on. Intimate areas will never be exposed. I will also leave the room while you change.

Which areas of the body are massaged?

A typical full-body massage includes work on the head, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, glutes, legs, and feet.
You may also choose a focused session that targets only specific areas. During the initial consultation, you will also be asked if there are any areas you would like me to avoid.

How long should my massage be?

First, consider whether you want a full-body massage or only a specific area treated. Specific, deep tissue work usually requires more time.

  • Partial treatments (e.g., neck and back): 30 to 60 minutes

  • Relaxing full-body massage: 60 minutes

  • Deep tissue massage: ideally 90 minutes

How often should I get a massage?

This depends on your goals and what needs to be addressed:

  • Once a month: For general relaxation, maintenance after a resolved issue, or prevention of musculoskeletal problems. From my experience, I recommend a 60–90 minute relaxation massage or a 90-minute therapeutic/deep tissue massage once a month.

  • Every two weeks: If you experience stress or specific problems, a massage every two weeks can help relieve discomfort before it worsens.

  • Weekly or twice a week: If you have acute or chronic pain, or are going through a stressful period, more frequent sessions can help you regain balance more quickly.

Does massage hurt?

There is a “good pain” and an “ouch pain.” A light, relaxing massage should not hurt at all. A good deep tissue massage may feel intense but should always remain within the “feels good” range. Sometimes pain can indicate the presence of a trigger point, or that a muscle is injured or inflamed, and in such cases the pressure will be adjusted.

When should I not get a massage?

If you have a fever, cold, contagious skin condition, or high-risk pregnancy, you should not book a massage.
In some cases, I may need to adapt my techniques (e.g., with arthritis or osteoporosis) or avoid certain areas. In other cases, I may require a written release from your doctor.

What if I fall asleep during my massage?

It is very common for clients to become so relaxed during a massage that they fall asleep. Don’t be embarrassed – I take it as a compliment.
